Badrinarayan Chaturvedi is a head of some royal family of Varanasi whose house is believed to be haunted by a ghost Manjulika. Manjulika was a dancer from Bengal who used to perform in King’s palace where Badrinarayan and his family is residing. Manjulika was praised by the then king and he also wants to marry her but Manjulika loved someone else.
When the king knows about their love, he became angry on both of them. On one occasion, they were invited for the dance and the king beheaded the love of Manjulika in front of her. When Manjulika’s lover died, the king used to torture Manjulika. One day, king also killed her and before dying Manjulika took an oath to kill all the kings of the dynasty (royal family).
